Hey! I’m Jared, a passionate photographer, video creator, and aspiring content creator who loves outdoor adventures like freediving and hiking!

I also enjoy riding motorcycles and documenting all the happy moments along the way!

But wait—how exactly did I get here?

Back in 2013, when I was in high school, I realized how much I loved capturing photos and videos of my family and friends using my Sony Xperia Z3 Compact smartphone.
That’s when I began documenting those raw and authentic moments that I really enjoy.

In July 2019, my brother invited me to try freediving for the first time. I immediately said yes because I’d been watching my favorite YouTubers’ travel documentaries, and that’s when I first learned about freediving!
My brother and I bought our very first freediving fins and diving masks, then headed to Batangas.
At that time, I didn’t have an action camera or a mirrorless camera, but I can honestly say I had a blast learning freediving.
Fast forward to August 2019—my sister from the US sent us a GoPro Hero 6, and I was ecstatic to finally have an action camera for our family travels, especially for freediving.

We’d always freedive and use the GoPro my sister gave us, and that’s when I knew I wanted to invest in a more professional camera.
So, in 2021, I bought my first mirrorless camera: the Sony A7C with a 28-60mm kit lens.
Let me tell you, I was beyond excited that day!
I didn’t know how to use all the settings yet, but I was eager to learn. So, I started watching YouTube tutorials to figure out how to use my new camera.
I’d shoot every day, learning the basics of the exposure triangle.

As I started shooting, I discovered how much I loved photographing landscapes, nature, and wildlife.
I also began learning portrait photography and, about 9 months after purchasing my camera, I got a referral for my first paid client.
From there, I continued upskilling, and watching more YouTube tutorials on photography and video creation.
I also attended every free Sony photography and filmmaking workshop I could find on Facebook and Instagram, including ones on wedding, landscape, food, product, and portrait photography.

If there’s one major lesson I’d share with you, it’s this: just start.
Get out there, shoot as much as you can, learn from Youtube, join creator communities, sign up for platforms like Popfly, and find your niche!
Eventually, you’ll find what you love to capture most!
For me, it’s landscapes, wildlife, adventures, and travel!

What’s your niche?

How to Be a Storyteller, Not an Ad: A Guide for Outdoor UGC Creators

In a world flooded with ads, outdoor UGC creators can stand out by focusing on storytelling instead of sales pitches. The key is to highlight the adventure, not just the gear—sharing real, emotional experiences that resonate with audiences. Authenticity beats perfection, so showcasing both the highs and lows of outdoor exploration builds trust and engagement. Rather than pushing products, invite participation by sparking conversations and sharing relatable moments. By making gear a part of the journey rather than the focus, creators can inspire their community while naturally integrating brand partnerships in a meaningful way.
