Hi! We’re Katie, Kody and Murphy otherwise known as the Dinkwads.
What in the world is a Dinkwad you ask? The term stands for double income, no kids, with a dog. We’re a two human one canine content creating trio based in Boise, and here’s how we got here.
We’re originally from Michigan. Kody works in advertising as the VP of Sales for a nationwide full service digital marketing company. Katie is a lead nurse at an endoscopy clinic and Murphy is the chief happiness officer around the Klenow household.
If you had made us choose three states we’d thought we’d never live in, Idaho would be pretty close to the top. However, six years ago Kody was offered an exciting career opportunity.
When asking where we’d need to relocate to we were told Idaho. “Great”, we thought. “Where’s that?”
Leaving a large friend group and family in Michigan was tough, especially for a state we’d never stepped foot in, where we didn’t know a single soul, that is more than likely filled to the brim with potatoes.
Luckily, we left the mitten state, loaded our Chevy Malibu up and drove across the country with the mindset of, “we can always move back if we hate it”
It was the best thing we could have done. Living in Boise has given us unmatched accessibility to the outdoors. We began exploring in and around Idaho, camping, hot springing, hiking and getting further and further away from service and in touch with nature.
That love of the outdoors led us to stumble upon content creation. During our trips, we snapped a lot of pictures, took a lot of videos and figured we’d start posting as a digital scrapbook, showing people you didn’t need fancy equipment, a large following or to be 100% prepared all the time to get outside and fill your life with adventure. All you needed was to jump in and do it.
Over the last several years we’ve upgraded from the Chevy Malibu, a pop up tent and a broken cooler to a Chevy Silverado and a Lance in-bed truck camper but the message is still the same, prioritize adventure and time outside. We’ve upgraded our content creation and collaboration efforts as well. Our partnership with Popfly has allowed us a simple way to connect with brands that we know and respect, while also learning about new organizations and new solutions that are changing the game in outdoor adventure.
Whether we’re backpacking in the Sawtooth Wilderness, road tripping the Oregon coast, or playing endless fetch with Murphy and a stick in some alpine lake we’d love to take you along on our adventures.
